Oct 2, 2024 · For night street photography, I would take the 18 1.4. Start at 1/250 at 1.4 in manual mode, and then adjust ISO accordingly. From there you can adjust shutter/aperture based on taste. 1/250 is fast enough to mostly freeze people moving about.

Jan 14, 2018 · I also have an X-T20 and for Street i often use my 18-55mm lens or the great (and underrated) 18mm lens. I choose aperture 4 or 5.6, switch to manual focus and set focus peaking on (low red). So i can always see the area which is in focus.

Jul 27, 2019 · Doing street photography using spot metering seems like a conflict. Street photography is all about taking pictures quickly. You see something happening and you have a second or two to get the shot. This is why zone focusing (or setting the Hyperfocal Distance) is good. It's fast because the camera doesn't have to focus.

I'm thinking of adding a new lens to my kit. 2/3 of my photos are shot with 18-55mm - I mainly do travel and street photography, a little architecture, and a tiny bit of landscape. Would XF 16-55mm f/2.8 R LM WR II be a significant improvement over the kit lens or should I rather invest in something else?
