5 days ago · The Asteroid Watch dashboard tracks asteroids and comets that will make relatively close approaches to Earth. The dashboard displays the date of closest approach, approximate object diameter, relative size and distance from Earth for each encounter.

The largest asteroid to pass within 1 LD of Earth in 2021 was 2021 SG with an estimated diameter of around 68 meters and an absolute magnitude of 24.0. The fastest asteroid to pass within 1 LD of Earth in 2021 was 2021 UA 7 that passed Earth with a velocity with respect to Earth of 27.7 km/s (62,000 mph).

Update: Although 2021 NY1 passed through the spacecraft's field of view, it was not detected, which hints that the asteroid is not significantly larger than 160 meters or optically dark. 2021 NY1 will brighten to about 16th magnitude for a few days in late September when it could be a good target for photometry.
