What does the City Manager do? In the 2016 general election, City of San Bernardino voters approved a new city charter providing for a Council-Manager form of government.

The Building & Safety Division is responsible for the health, safety, and welfare of the community by ensuring that all newly constructed and remodeled buildings on private property conform to the City's building codes and ordinances. This is accomplished through the building permit and inspections process.

The City of San Bernardino Parks, Recreation, and Community Services department develops, manages, and maintains over thirty parks that span approximately five hundred acres of open space and developed land.
