Experience an Edwardian historic house and garden nestled in a leafy corner of Birmingham

Our latest exhibition, “Further Than Memory Can Reach” by Carolyn Blake, takes us on a journey around the grounds of Winterbourne House from the time it was built to the present.

Tickets give you access to both the house and garden, they start at £7.20 for a single ticket, £6.20 for concessions and £22 for a family ticket.

Originally designed as a small country estate with rustic outbuildings and large gardens, Winterbourne followed the style of the Arts and Crafts movement with examples of local craftsmanship throughout the house.

Winterbourne is located on the University of Birmingham campus in Edgbaston, Birmingham. Only a few miles from the city centre, it is just off the main A38 route leaving the city towards the South West. If using a Sat Nav, entering our full address is the best option.

Winterbourne is open 7 days a week, Jan-Feb & Nov-Dec 10.30am - 4pm daily, Mar-Oct 10.30am - 5.30pm daily.

Dec 18, 2024 · Winterbourne’s legacy as the University’s Botanic Garden, and a vital hub for research, has continued thanks to links between Winterbourne and various departments, research groups and institutes across the University.

Join one of Winterbourne’s expert horticulturalists as they take you on an exclusive tour of the garden, highlight all the must-see spots this Autumn.

Interactive exhibits bring the history of the house to life for children, and whilst little is known of how the interior would have looked during the Nettlefold’s tenure, rooms have been sympathetically recreated with beautiful William Morris print wallpapers and period furnishings to evoke the Edwardian era.
