Dominic Solanke opened his account for Tottenham to earn a much-needed 3-1 home win over Brentford. After Ange Postecoglou’s team had narrowly avoided an early Carabao Cup exit at Coventry on Wednesday, they conceded after 22 seconds to Brentford through Bryan Mbeumo.

Ange Postecoglou has defended his decision to substitute Lucas Bergvall and make several changes to his Tottenham side for their last-gasp victory over Coventry City in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday evening. Spurs looked to be on the receiving end of an upset as Brandon Thomas-Asante put Coventry ahead in the second half.

Since the start of last season, Brentford have dropped more points from winning positions than any other side in the Premier League (36), while only Manchester City (30) have won more points from behind than Tottenham (28).
