State-owned Coal India has entered into a joint venture (JV) agreement with Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Ltd (RRVUNL) to undertake renewable energy business in Rajasthan.

Coal India Ltd (CIL) on Monday (September 23) said it has entered into a joint venture agreement (JVA) with Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Ltd (RRVUNL) to establish a 2x800 MW brownfield thermal power project at RRVUNL's existing Kalisindh Thermal Power Station in Rajasthan.

While Coal India will have a 74 percent shareholding in the joint venture, RRVUNL will have remaining 26 percent.
