After last week’s decision to drop a five-year prison sentence for a paramedic involved in the death of Elijah McClain, a flurry of requests to review the judge and his ruling have landed in the inbox of the Colorado Commission on Judicial Discipline.

A paramedic who was convicted of criminally negligent homicide and second-degree assault last year in connection to the 2019 death of Elijah McClain had their five-year prison sentence vacated by an Adams County District Court judge in favor of four years probation Friday.

Peter Cichuniec -- one of the paramedics involved in the death of Elijah McClain in Colorado in 2019 -- was convicted and sentenced to five years in prison earlier this year but had his sentence reduced to probation on Friday.

Peter Cichuniec was sentenced in March to five years in prison. On Friday, a judge said he reduced the sentence because of “unusual and extenuating circumstances.”
