As for when players can get their hands on the Switch 2, the release window remains vague — 2025 is all Nintendo is willing to confirm for now. A dedicated Nintendo Direct is scheduled for 2 April, alongside a series of global hands-on events, with availability varying by location.

Nintendo has already confirmed that most existing Switch games will be compatible with the Switch 2 and that the Switch 2 will support physical cartridges from the original Switch. That means the Switch 2 will already have a huge selection of games on day one, even if most of the above games end up being just rumors.

There's still no release date for Nintendo's Switch 2 console and the launch lineup is a mystery, but one thing has been revealed: gamers can expect Xbox games to become available for it at some point.
