Gov. Walz has declared the date of a special election for the race for District 40B, after the seat was vacated by a judge, which has led to a showdown in the Minnesota House.

The election, which could decide which party controls the Minnesota House, has now been scheduled for March 11.

The House District 40B special election will take place March 11, with a primary on Feb. 25 if needed. The vacancy arose from a judge ruling that DFL Rep.-elect Curtis Johnson was ineligible for office because he did not properly establish residency in the district.
