Employee dies in stairwell of Birmingham City Hall
A city employee was found dead Thursday in a Birmingham City Hall stairwell. The discovery was made about 11 a.m. in the stairwell between the 10th and 11th floors. Birmingham police and the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office responded to the scene. Sgt. LaQuitta Wade said the man was a city employee.

The name has been released of the man found dead at Birmingham City Hall Thursday morning. At 11 a.m. Troy Joseph Perry Jr., 67, who was a city employee, was found in a stairwell of the building, according to the coroner. He was pronounced dead a few minutes later.
