Birmingham native Courteney Cox is in the neighboring state of Georgia to portray her most iconic big-screen character for the seventh time.

Scream 7 will mark the returns of several characters, including Stu Macher (Matthew Lillard), Roman Bridger (Scott Foley), and Dewey Riley (David Arquette). How they will factor into the plot of the movie is unclear — Deadline notes the trio of characters are “returning in a surprise way.”

The "Scream" franchise has never lacked for imagination, but the writers of "Scream 7" will have their hands full after the latest revelation. Deadline is reporting that the newest installment of the horror movie franchise will bring back a character who died during the last movie.

Patrick Dempsey’s Detective Mark Kincaid will not be facing off against Ghostface a second time. The actor has confirmed that he will not reprise his Scream 3 role in Scream 7, which is shaping up to be a major franchise reunion with several iconic characters from earlier films set to appear.

Mason Gooding and Jasmin Savoy Brown, who appeared in the fifth and six installments as siblings, are also coming back. New cast members include Isabel May, Mark Consuelos, Asa Germann, Mckenna Grace, Sam Rechner and Anna Camp.
