A Virginia man didn’t believe his luck when he learned he won big playing Powerball, lottery officials said. “That can’t be right. It’s got to be a scam,” Robert Peak told Virginia Lottery officials he said after seeing a message saying that he had won $200,000.

According to Virginia Lottery, the $1 million prize was part of the New Year's Millionaire Raffle. Five tickets were sold at grocery stores, convenience stores and gas stations across the commonwealth. Those businesses include: Ticket #068764 (bought at McNair Farms Sunoco, 13470 Coppermine Road, Herndon)

Miran Smith gifted his aunt, Geraldine Smith, a Virginia’s New Year’s Millionaire Raffle ticket. It turned out to be one of the grand prize winners worth $1 million, according to the Virginia Lottery.

Randall Smith was sitting in his car when he won a $100,000 top prize from a Money Tree ticket, the Virginia Lottery said in a Jan. 6 news release. “I broke down, and I lost it!” Smith told lottery officials.
