Sources in Mexico tell NewsNation a caravan of migrants has just taken off from the city of Tapachula, with hundreds heading north to Chiapas, Mexico, on foot. The majority of migrants are Venezuelan, sources say. The ultimate destination is reportedly Juarez, Mexico, located just miles from the border, and El Paso, Texas.

President-elect Donald Trump’s pick to oversee what he has promised to be the country’s largest ever deportation effort says he will need tens of billions of dollars to carry out the mission, but it will ultimately reduce taxpayers’ burden.

The first migrant caravan of 2025 is marching from Mexico toward the US, with its 2,000 members hoping to rush the border before President-elect Donald Trump takes office. More such massive groups are also expected to make haste before the Jan.
