A husband shot his wife outside a Kansas elementary school as they dropped off their two children for classes for the day, police said.

A Kansas father shot his wife on Monday morning during a “domestic dispute” at their children’s elementary school drop-off, sending the campus into lockdown. The man reportedly opened fire, striking his wife in the chest shortly after the couple dropped off their children at Cessna Elementary School in Wichita.

Just after 9a.m. Monday, Sedgwick County Emergency Communications began to receive reports of a shooting outside Cessna Elementary School, 2101 West 45th Street South in Wichita, according to a statement from Police Chief Joe Sullivan during a Tuesday afternoon news conference.

Local officials are reporting at least one is in critical condition with the second victim suffering serious injuries. The school went into lockdown after the shooting. There still are no suspects or arrests made in the shooting.
