Eight films from the Cannes Official Selection made this year’s Oscars shortlist. Those films spanned 17 categories and totalled a record 31 nominations. The nine total wins is at least a recent record, the festival has confirmed to us, and may even be an all-time record. We’ll need more time to dig through that one.

While this year's Oscars marked a victory for U.S. independent moviemaking with 'Anora' taking home best picture, it's also a big win for Cannes.

"Oppenheimer" became the highest grossing Best Picture Oscar winner in 20 years. It has been followed up by "Anora," one of the lowest grossing Best Picture winners of the modern era.
