Evacuations ordered for ‘out of control’ wildfire in McDowell CountyOLD FORT, N.C. (WSPA) – An “out of control” wildfire fire has been reported off of Bat Cave Road south of Old Fort in McDowell County. The fire was caused by a tree falling onto a power line.
As of 6:30 p.m. Jan. 30, firefighters were continuing burnout operations in McDowell County on the North Fork Fire, which has grown to 200 acres and is 20% contained.
According to the Old Fort Police Department, the shooting took place at a Dollar General on Bat Cave Road. Police officers and deputies arrived at the scene to find a person who had died.
