Stanford Intramural Sports introduced a coed league with new rules limiting defensive plays against women, sparking controversy among players who argue the changes undermine fair competition.

While the Mansion Park league has been in existence for 50 years, a women’s division didn’t surface until the late 1980s, on the initiative of Altoona coach Art Taneyhill, Dry said.
