Approximately 100 men lined up in rows as they pray toward the east, and the holy land of Mecca, at the Islamic Society of Greater Kansas City mosque on Saturday during Ramadan last year.

Family members spoke to the Kansas City Star, saying the shooting was "out of nowhere." The two victims were "good kids with good grades" who wanted to be leaders in the mosque, they said.
