The preliminary report into the Delta Air Lines flight that flipped upside down in a crash landing at Toronto's Pearson International Airport last month has been released, and shows the plane had been descending at a high rate of speed.

The alert system on a Delta jet that flipped upside down and burst into flames as it tried to land indicated a high rate of descent.

The FAA said it is currently investigating the incident and any passenger who assaults, threatens, intimidates or interferes with airline crewmembers faces up to $37,000 in civil penalties. In 2024, the FAA has received over 1,800 reports of unruly passengers. So far, in 2025, there have been 311 reports.

A Delta flight headed to Kansas City had to turn around back to Atlanta on Wednesday night after a “cabin pressurization issue.” The airline confirmed to Channel 2 Action News that Flight 1660 took off just before 7 p.m. and arrived back at the gate at 8:13 p.m. Delta said oxygen masks did not need to be deployed in the cabin.
