After being delayed twice by the wildfires in California, the 2025 Oscar nominations have finally been announced. Wicked star Bowen Yang and Saturday Night ‘s Rachel Sennott announced the nominations via a global livestream and a broadcast on Good Morning America and other major news networks. The nominations also streamed live on Disney+ and Hulu.

The BAFTA nominees were announced this morning but there was no recognition for high profile movies such as Queer, Challengers, Babygirl, and Paddington In Peru. Meanwhile, musical Wicked was shut out of the Best Film and Best Director categories.

The incarceration drama “Sing Sing” did get several significant nominations including for Colman Domingo, adapted screenplay and original song. But Clarence “Divine Eye” Maclin, who delivered a revelatory performance based on his own experience, was not among them. He is, however, credited with helping to write the story.

Those who have been in the running for awards, but missed out on nominations, also include Oscar-winner Nicole Kidman for erotic thriller Babygirl, US singer Selena Gomez for Emilia Perez, Gladiator II actor Denzel Washington and Baywatch star Pamela Anderson for The Last Showgirl.

The only actors chosen who have previously been nominated are Ralph Fiennes, Adrien Brody, Hugh Grant, Saoirse Ronan, Timothée Chalamet, Jamie Lee Curtis, Marianne Jean-Baptiste, Felicity Jones, Colman Domingo and Edward Norton.
