Winter storm warnings were in place for seven states across the country from the National Weather Service (NWS) early on Monday, with up to 17 inches of snow forecast in some areas. A winter weather advisory was also in place from the NWS for parts of Utah at the time of writing.

Snow will continue in the high country through Monday even though the Denver weather forecast remains dry. Police in Houston said several kids trying to rob a man were subsequently shot, with one now in critical condition.

Another wave of winter weather will impact Colorado mountains Saturday afternoon, dumping as much as a foot and a half of snow in areas above 10,000 feet, according to the National Weather Service.
