SC Forestry Commission investigators will be in Carolina Forest this week to begin searching for the Myrtle Beach-area wildfire's origin, state officials said.

As of Wednesday, 96 wildfires were burning in North Carolina. Around 30 fires were burning across South Carolina. The fire near Myrtle Beach was 44% contained.

Horry County is under a tornado watch and wind advisory as severe storms are expected by this afternoon. Fire crews continue to battle a 2K+ acre wildfire.

The largest of the brush fires erupted Saturday in Carolina Forest, a community west of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The fire exploded in size overnight, forcing residents in at least half a dozen neighborhoods in the area to flee their homes early Sunday.

Flights scheduled to land at Myrtle Beach March 4 and 5 were diverted to Charleston, due to the continued wildfires in Horry County. Cancellations continue.

Wildfires continue to burn in the Carolina Forest area. Firefighters are working to extinguish the blaze, and helicopters and planes have been brought in to dump water on the fires.
