A paramedic who was convicted of criminally negligent homicide and second-degree assault last year in connection to the 2019 death of Elijah McClain had their five-year prison sentence vacated by an Adams County District Court judge in favor of four years probation Friday.

Peter Cichuniec -- one of the paramedics involved in the death of Elijah McClain in Colorado in 2019 -- was convicted and sentenced to five years in prison earlier this year but had his sentence reduced to probation on Friday.

Adams County District Court Judge Mark Warner in March sentenced Cichuniec to five years in prison — the mandatory minimum prison time required under Colorado law — but Cichuniec in June

The prison sentence for one of the former paramedics convicted in the death of Elijah McClain has been vacated by a Colorado judge.
