The company says that as of 2024, it began listing only public holidays and national observances, not cultural and historical events.

Users began noticing that Google Calendar removed some cultural events — like Holocaust Remembrance Day or Pride Month — typically listed as default items on Calendar. The tech giant said the changes were made last year.

The Pentagon's intelligence agency has been ordered to stop celebratory events or activities for Martin Luther King Jr. Day and Black History Month.

Also omitted is Indigenous Peoples Month, Hispanic Heritage Month and Holocaust Remembrance Day, according to social media users and product experts.

Black History Month and Holocaust Remembrance Day have also been removed, as Google calls its calendar process "unsustainable."
