With the countdown to the bloom of Washington, D.C.’s beloved cherry blossoms in full swing, the Washington Capitals unveiled a special jersey Tuesday to ring in the iconic pink flowers and celebrate the team’s 50th anniversary.

The Capitals are breaking out a new look this month, a version of their 50th anniversary Screaming Eagles jersey that features bursting cherry blossoms.

Peak bloom is coming later this month, and so are cherry blossom-themed jerseys from the Washington Capitals. The franchise announced Tuesday that it will auction off a handful of signed specialty jerseys this month to raise money for community initiatives.

The Washington Capitals will salute DC’s famous cherry blossoms this month. Players will wear a cherry blossom sweater (okay, fine, jersey) during arrivals for their March 18 game against Detroit that will feature the retro “screaming eagle” design.
