Vodafone Idea will raise up to 19.80 billion rupees ($233.8 million) through the issue of preferential shares, the Indian telecom company said on Monday.

The pledge was created in favour of HSBC Corporate Trustee Company (UK) for the debt raised by Mauritius and India-based entities of Vodafone Group.

According to a regulatory filing, the UK-based Vodafone Group has paid off debts totalling around 109 million pounds, or  Rs 11,650 crore, that it raised against Vodafone Idea shares. Nearly the whole share in VIL has been committed by Vodafone Group to pay off the debt.
