Two out of the three Welshmen nominated for Oscars came out victorious Sunday night, with 'The Brutalist' cinematographer Crawley thanking his friends back in Wales.

Welsh artist Lol Crawley won the Academy Award for Best Cinematography for his work on the historical drama The Brutalist, starring Adrien Brody. Filmed in just 33 days on a modest $10 million budget, The Brutalist also secured a win for Best Original Score, composed by Daniel Blumberg.

As writer-director Sean Baker said accepting one of his four Oscars, Anora (MA 15+) is very much an indie film. It’s about a New York lap dancer (best actress winner Mikey Madison) who is swept into a freewheeling romance with a visiting Russian.
