According to a Jan. 2 filing with the U.S. Patent and Trademark office, Puma is opposing Sun Day Red’s “tiger logo” and “SDR tiger logo” that Woods is aiming to trademark for the use on eyewear, bags, golf towels, clothing, footwear, sports equipment and retail services.

Sportswear powerhouse PUMA, who has a division dedicated to golf within its ranks called PUMA GOLF, is challenging the leaping tiger logo of Tiger Woods ‘s nascent label Sun Day Red. The Germany company claims that the mark is too similar to its own patented Leaping Cat logo and could lead to confusion among customers.

For the second time in the past year Tiger Woods’ Sun Day Red brand is facing trademarking issues. Last week footwear giant Puma filed a notice of opposition to the logo for Woods’ new fashion line.
