Duolingo isn't just for languages anymore. Now, the app can teach you chess. Duolingo is set to launch a new course to help folks learn chess in the coming weeks. Right now, the course is only available in beta form in iOS and will roll out to other iOS users in the next 4-6 weeks,

Now in early testing, the Chess course marks the company’s first new subject since launching Music and Math in 2023 and brings one of the oldest games into the world of bite-sized, gamified learning.

The chess course is launching in beta testing on iOS in English, according to Monica Earle, Duolingo’s PR director. Earle estimates that in four to six weeks, more people on iOS will be able to try it, and then it will head to Android and be available in other languages down the line.
