NEW YORK -- The woman killed when she was set on fire in a Brooklyn subway car has been identified by police, after using fingerprint and dental information and DNA evidence. On Tuesday, NYPD officers identified her as 57-year-old Debrina Kawam, originally from Toms River, New Jersey.

Police arrested a man who allegedly lit a sleeping homeless woman on fire in a Brooklyn subway car Sunday morning, then watched calmly as she burned to death, NYPD officials said.

A woman who died after being set on fire on the New York City subway earlier this month was identified as Debrina Kawam, 57, of Toms River, New Jersey, the New York medical examiner's office said on Tuesday.
