Thousands of people have lined the streets of Belfast for the city’s St Patrick’s Day parade. Young and old waved flags and cheered as the colourful and noisy parade made its way through the city centre on Monday afternoon.

Police in Belfast made seven arrests and have begun investigations into a number of other incidents during St Patrick’s Day celebrations in the city centre and Holyland area. The arrests were for suspected offences including assault, disorderly behaviour, criminal damage and drug offences.
