Different. J WARD was a prison for the criminally insane and is in town. It's more of a museum than Aradale. Aradale was a psychiatric hospital.Aradale is on the outskirts of town and is only open on weekends on tours. J Ward is better to visit in my opinion as it has more displays etc. much more visitor friendly. Try and go on guided tour of J Ward bcos it's fascinating
