Gynecologic oncology combines aspects of medicine that I love-the ability to get to know patients and keep up with them for a long time, while helping them to move past illness. The field gives me the chance to work closely with colleagues, role models and trainees, and the science and surgical aspects of gynecologic oncology are dynamic and elegant-advances are made daily. The field has changed immensely, even since I was in medical school, with women living longer and better than ever before.
