Too far for Public Transit, nothing near that I am aware of. You will have to drive, or Uber. I must say that the Falls is OK, but, it is not really a big deal.

Yes, if you go to the lower view of the Falls, there is hiking and an access area to the river where you can kayak, picnic, and do other recreational activities.
