Hi there, we took a slow walk around the main Zoo and the petting Zoo. Took us about 4 hours. I don't remember seeing a play area, but there was a cafeteria with seating.

The zoo is open 10:00 am to 5:00 pm every day and until 5:30 pm on Saturday and Sunday. But please call to be sure. Enjoy!

There are some inside buildings with animals, but you will be outside walking between. Some of the animals are seen from outside only. I’m not sure how active they will be in the winter. It’s not a large zoo and not expensive. Choose the best day and take a visit. Chances are good it will be below 50 in the city in December. It’s not an all-day event, but plan a couple hours —you will need to dress warm.
