No but funny enough my grandson does enactments not sure about what era but they use swords and shields they practice most Sundays at the back of the castle in the park …

As far as I know it's open every day(except Christmas & new year etc)but the opening hours reduce in the winter.

We parked on Sainsbury’s car park and had time for lunch in town before going to the castle. Mind you we didn’t do much more than look at the poppies and a wander round. You are restricted to 2.5 hours free parking at Sainsbury’s.
